Here's UDL ... in so many words!

UDL - A Definition
"Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for designing curricula that enable all individuals to gain knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for learning. UDL provides rich supports for learning and reduces barriers to the curriculum while maintaining high achievement standards for all.
.... by helping those who are marginalized in traditional classrooms (e.g., those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and other challenges), we are discovering educational methods and materials that are flexible and powerful enough to help all students, regardless of their ability, maximize their progress." (CAST)
Universal Design for Learning calls for ...
Multiple means of representation, to give learners various ways of acquiring information and knowledge,
Multiple means of expression and action, to provide learners alternatives for demonstrating what they know,
Multiple means of engagement, to tap into learners' interests, offer appropriate challenges, and increase motivation.

UDL is NOT technology...
...but technology helps to make curricula flexible and accessible!
All technology was once new...
...and our comfort level with it varies widely!
